There are so many generous people who have started a scholarship fund for different reasons, such as to honor a deceased family member, to bring attention to a cause or career, and so many more!
My kids know how to apply for their own scholarships and have done so. I think it's good for them to know what's involved in the process. Obviously, if a scholarship requires an essay or extra information needs to be gathered, they'll be doing that. I do, however, fill out the FAFSA every year for each of my kids.
